Today, I awoke as every day with memories of you,
our days were too short,
our memories, far too few.
Every season which passes,
each anniversary of that day,
I look up to Our Father,
and I begin to pray.
O, Father in Heaven,
hold my son close;
And give my child the love,
which he needs the most.
Allow Jemahl to look down
and see me here below;
May all the love I bear,
be his to know.
I realize that with You, Father,
Jemahl is even more blessed;
But, it's difficult, you see,
as I do my very best.
To live each day,
without him in my view,
but I know my son is happier,
up in Heaven, with You.
Take Jemahl by the hand, Dear Lord,
and give to him a flower.
And tell him that I still cherish and love him,
and I think of him every hour
I borrowed my dear one from You, for just awhile,
savoring each moment I had;
He is safe now, away from every harm,
Touch my heart, Father,
and mend all the broken pieces.
And may the love I hold for Jemahl
extend to others, as it reaches,
Out to the hurting,
those who are grieving and in the same pain,
and may they all feel Your mighty embrace,
as they remember once again.
May I linger safely until I, too,
cross upon the Golden Strand,
and there to greet me on one side will
be My Sweet Jesus,
and on the other, my precious son Jemahl,
with an outstretched hand.

We’re wondering what Christmas in Heaven is like
As we grieve alone and pray,
longing for one who has gone before
To spend Christmas in Heaven today.

From the scenes and sounds of earth
‘Til we catch the strains of the Heavenly choir
As they sing of the Christ Child’s birth.
The Angels we envision there
As they join in the restal gay
And there amid the throng is our Loved One
Spending Christmas in Heaven today.
There’s joy in the faith that teaches
When our life’s work is done
Of a place in Heaven awaiting
And the crown we worked for is won.
In our grief may we learn well the lesson
So to work and suffer and pray
As to merit the joys of our loved one
